What does an EMDR therapist need to know?
Kent Regional Group
Presents an online training workshop on:
"What does an EMDR therapist need to know?"
With Louise Mackinney
on Saturday 27th February 2021 at 9.30am - 5.00pm
13th March 2021: 9.30am - 5.00pm
In some ways this workshop represents a “back to basics” training in that it presents foundational knowledge about EMDR and common mistakes that therapists make. It also draws on Louise’s doctoral research on EMDR therapists’ experience of CPD and what they think they need to know. This research brought up a number of themes about the nature of knowledge in EMDR and to what extent knowledge is technical, and to what extent it depends on the nature of the therapeutic relationship.
We will look at different answers to the question posed by the workshop and develop themes such as “right and wrong”, “structure versus creativity” and “being versus doing.”
There will be an opportunity to discuss the new Personal Development Plan (Farrell, Knibbs, Mackinney & Miller, 2020) and to develop a personal EMDR learning schedule.
This will be an experiential workshop and therefore will not be recorded.
The workshop is suitable for all therapists who have completed standard training in EMDR.
6 CPD points have been applied for.
Louise Mackinney is an integrative psychotherapist and EMDR consultant. She is an experienced trainer and is currently a trustee and Secretary of the EMDR Association UK. She is completing her professional doctorate with Metanoia Institute on pedagogical processes in EMDR.
